We’re beginning the start of a three-day weekend so the Idea Specialists© at Collingwood Luxury Apartment Community are sharing a few of the best.
First of all, there’s football of course with a wild game kicking off tonight between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and current national Champions, the Clemson Tigers. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EDT in Memorial Stadium in Clemson but if you’re planning to watch at home, you can catch the game on the ACC network, or other options including Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and PlayStation Vue.
Friday night, plan to enjoy live music with a stellar farewell to summer as Grains of Sand, a beach, doo wop, Memphis to Motown kind of band performs in The Plaza from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Avalon Nights Live! Grab your friends and family and get ready to dance the night away.
This Saturday, if you need something besides Georgia football to enjoy, plan to attend Alpharetta Art in the Park, held monthly on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The outdoor artist’s market is a creative mix all things art including pottery, custom jewelry, woodwork, metal work, handmade children’s clothing, soaps and lotions, photography, watercolor, oil, mosaic art and much more.
Stop in an see the “incredibly offbeat work” work of Crooked Chaos, which features “Always be Yourself” funny one-liners from twins Bonnie and Bette.
Art in the Park is located directly behind the Alpharetta Farmers Market in downtown Alpharetta at Brooke Street Park in the shady area near the new City Hall. Best of all, there is plenty of parking in the nearby parking deck.
On Sunday, you can start preparing for Labor Day by gathering the family to attend the fifth annual “Pig Out” event jointly sponsored by two of our favorite Alpharetta restaurants Oak Steakhouse and Colletta. The event takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Palmer Plaza (the green space between Oak and Colletta in Avalon) and will offer full access to an all-you-can-eat feast featuring brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, hot dogs and an array of sides including coleslaw, mac n’ cheese, potato salad, cornbread, baked beans, corn on the cob, banana pudding and fruit cobbler. Which makes us wonder, how can you top that? With a photo booth and lawn games which also will be provided.
Satellite bars will also be available, serving up beer and wine selections for $5. Tickets are $35 for adults in advance, $40 at the door, and $20 for kids (ages 6 to 12). All children 5 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased here or for additional information, please call Colletta at 678.722.8335 or Oak Steakhouse at 678.722.8333.
